A Day of Portraiture

   Last week our photography class took a trip to the Downtown Mall for the day. Our focus of the trip was to work on approaching strangers for a Portraiture assignment. There were several types of  portraits that we tried to capture. Some different types were: candid, mood/emotion portrait, self portrait, hands/feet/detail, side-lit, a group portrait, and children.

I just really liked the dog!

Imitation is the Greatest Form of Flattery..

   Our latest assignment involved choosing a famous photographer,researching and created a presentation about them, and then going out and emulating their photographic style. I chose Robert Doisneau, a French street photographer who captured candid moments in the streets of Paris.

To try and emulate his style, I went to the Downtown Mall and took photos of what I saw. And these are my attempts..

I love how the dog's shadow looks like a cartoon.

Sale! I like the contrast between the balloons and the background.

Silhouette--love the repetitiveness of the cafe tables.
